The Good Shepherd clinic, a registered charity that already provides free medical care to eligible patients in Dawson, now has a dental clinic which provides free dental services.
The much needed dental center, which relies on volunteers and donations, will provide a variety of dental services.
Services will not include procedures which are generally considered as more cosmetic procedures, such as dental crowns and bridges.
With the help of volunteer dentists and other dental experts including a periodontist, the clinic aims to satisfy the need of those patients who are uninsured, or whose dental insurance may not cover their treatment.
The director of the clinic, Mr. Johnson, aims to deliver what their patients will need.
Most insurance programs don’t cover extensive dental work, so we know what the need is and we want to meet it.
With the help of kind donations, more equipment such as a digital x-ray machine should be possible.
A number of charities provide free dental treatment at events throughout the country, however the Good Shepherd Clinic is one of many who provide a permanent treatment venue for qualifying patients.
