Parents are all smiles with news of a Federal Government scheme which offers $1000 worth of dental work for children aged 2 to 17.
Letters started to be sent out recently to explain that Family Tax Benefit Part A households will receive the subsidy, which covers children’s dental examinations, x-rays, cleaning, fissure sealing, fillings, root canals and extractions (not orthodontics).
The subsidy must be used within 2 years.
Mal Cottle, who specialises in the dental care of Australian school students, said “The means-tested subsidy was a great idea. $1000 over two years isn’t a lot but it goes a long way to helping people.” read more…
